Frequently
Asked Questions
Q:
How much do you guys charge for studio time?
A:
$30/hour, 3 hour minimum
-
Q:
Why do you say that live sound prices start at $200?
A:
There are many variables that affect the overall pricing
of a live contract. Distance, number of performers, audience
size and lighting choices all come into play when determining
a price. Please call or email us with your event details
and we’ll create an individualized and itemized quote.
-
Q:
Do you ever offer any good deals on recording?
A:
We here at the Mill have checked out most of the competition
in the province. $30/hour is a good deal.
-
Q:
I'm looking at only recording 3-4 tunes. How much do you
think this will cost?
A:
It's hard to give an accurate estimate because each artist
is different. Some clients can do a song an hour, while
others take up to 8 hours per song. It's a reality that
some artists on major labels spend hundreds of hours on
one song alone. We realize that your hard-earned money is
valuable, so we do our best to keep things running quickly.
At the same time, we do not believe in being pushy. A good
rule of thumb for a rock/punk/indie band is about 4 hours
a song once mixing and mastering is accounted.
-
Q:
Will my recording sound as good as <<insert huge-name
act here>>?
A:
We are proud of the records that come out of the Mill. While
our recordings may not reach heights of audiophile bliss,
we have found that our clients leave with a disc that they
are looking forward to sharing with the world. Simply put,
if you are looking for a multi-million dollar sound, you
need to spend a few million dollars. If you are looking
for a damn good start, come see us.
-
Q:
Can you guys set up your PA early so we can go over a sound
check?
A:
Sure! We’ll come in a week early if you’d like,
but it’s going to cost a little more.
We will work as hard as we can to get you sounding your
best, but unless specifically negotiated, we will usually
begin staging around 2 hours prior to the door.
-
Q:
Can I send you a stage plot?
A:
Please, please, please send us a stage plot!! Email us at
info@ewenmcintosh.com
with a .pdf or .doc attachment of your band’s setup.
Well even gladly take a scanned sketch! The more we know
about you before you hit the stage, the better.

Bring your shoes.

about working for us. We are a small team of 4/5 working
on a project-to-project basis, and don't mind having extra
help when it's needed. Email
